Nebraska Cures Public Policy Internship

Internship Description:
Small, but mighty nonprofit supporting, promoting, and advocating for health science research is looking for a interns interested in building public policy experience. Interns will
monitor state and federal legislation regarding medical research and health policy and support our lobbying efforts.
Our policy priority areas are:
• Medical research
• Climate’s impact on health
• Maternal and child health
• Mental and behavioral health

Duties will include activities such as:
• Monitoring Nebraska legislative public hearings and debate, streamed online
• Drafting letters to legislative committees about proposed legislation
• Developing social media posts regarding legislative activity
• Researching issues and developing policy briefs as needed
• Monitor federal policy through our membership with Research!America
• Sitting in on public policy meetings and board meetings

Preferred Skills:
• Must have strong writing skills
• Adaptability. The Legislature fluctuates between moving quickly and slowly.
• Experience with a variety of social media platforms
• Research skills
• Passionate about science and advocacy!

Work Schedule:
• The position is approximately 10 hrs a week, flexible, and is remote. Zoom meetings
will also be a significant part of the experience.
