Nebraska Abroad: Storytelling & Health in Italy!

In this special session of COMM 391: Storytelling and Health students will explore the link between a pervasive form of everyday and consequential communication – storytelling – and health and well-being. Research suggests that humans are storytelling creatures who make sense of their lives through narrative features, reasoning, and communication. Students will devote particular attention to the links between storytelling, meaning-making, and mental health through the lenses of culture and well-being by examining how people story their lives in southern Italy and how their broader approach to health and well-being (e.g., food, exercise, self-care, outdoor activities, family) enables connection and well-being.
