With September flying by, you may be pondering: To be a Communication Studies major or minor?
That is the question.
For those getting a minor, you may wonder about the feasibility of declaring a COMM major. How does it all fit together? If you’re enjoying your COMM courses, perhaps you are curious about the major, and how it might align with your intellectual interests, love of communication, and post-graduation goals? Upper-level COMM courses are engaging and open doors. Did you know you can select upper-level courses based on four major emphases?
• Communication, Public Advocacy, and Civic Engagement
• Communication, Health, and Well-Being
• Diversity, Culture, and Global Communication
• General Emphasis
If you are curious about the major and its emphases, or even if you are already majoring in Communication Studies, I encourage you to schedule an appointment. Together, we can review your degree audit, discuss major requirements, and map out courses focused on your short- and long-term goals. Moreover, how are your classes translating to transferable skills? Let’s talk about that too!
If you schedule before October 22—the start of Priority Registration—we can plan for your Spring 2019, in addition to discussing major requirements and courses.
I look forward to seeing you!
