How did you find Communication Studies?
I was struggling as a CSCE major, and after talking with an adviser about my interests, she suggested Communication Studies as a pliable and interesting major. I switched and fell in love with the classes and haven't looked back since!

What do you like most about being a Communication Studies major?
Most of the classes are extremely interesting to me. I was always big into public speaking and theatre and comm studies classes often offer a cool lens into examining why certain communication works and how to make it work better.

What is your favorite class?
My favorite class would probably be Comm 465 Social Identity. Dr. Soliz is a really fun and interesting professor and growing up in a town where racial and ethnic tensions can run high, seeing this scholarly research into how different groups can communicate is really interesting. It was a really cool connection between the academic things I've learned and the life lessons I learned growing up.

What are some cool experiences you've had as a student here at UNL?
Most of my undergraduate was just studying and working to pay bills. But this last semester, I was able to land an internship at NET Nebraska that has been super fulfilling. I was always interested in production and public broadcasting and UNL helped me find a job that let me use my personal interests and academic interests in one go.

What are your post-graduation plans?
Never take a cumulative final again and hopefully land a job where I can flex my brain muscles in a meaningful way.
