How did you find Communication Studies?
I first heard the phrase "Communication Studies" from a co-worker when I was an undeclared freshman attending Peru State College. I would constantly ask her about what you could do with a major like that since I assumed it to be a major where you just learn how to talk to people or speak in public, but after she told me the many ways you can apply a Comm Studies degree, I was captivated and declared my major in Communication Studies upon my transfer to UNL.

What do you like most about being a Communication Studies major?
Communication is an integral part of our daily lives, whether it be verbal or non-verbal. I love being in a major where I can learn the best ways to communicate with those around me and really understand the perspectives and the sentiments that others are sharing with me.

What has been your favorite class so far?
My favorite class was Comm 283 - Interpersonal Communication. Comm 283 helped me understand the many different ways to communicate across different relationship types, whether it be professional or personal. I was able to learn a lot of concepts that I can apply to my daily life.

What are some of the cool experiences you've had as a student at UNL?
I've spent a lot of my time as an undergraduate either working or studying, but the concepts that I've learned through Communication Studies has helped me in my job as a daycare teacher, my work as a missionary a couple of years ago, and in being elected in executive club positions on campus.

What are your post-graduation plans?
After I graduate, I hope to attend grad-school or continue doing mission work.
