The Flat Water States Communication Research Conference, sponsored by Lambda Pi Eta, will be held in the auditorium of Gardner hall on the campus of Wayne State College from 8:30 to 4:00 on March 27, 2020. The conference offers undergraduate students an opportunity to share their original research projects and provides a forum through which they can interact with some of the leading scholars in the discipline of communication.
The conference features keynote speaker, Dr. Jeff Child, Professor of Communication Studies at Kent State University and Editor of the Journal of Family Communication. Dr. Child is a past communication studies undergraduate from Wayne State. We are happy to have him return to campus!
The conference is open to undergraduate student’ work in a variety of content areas (e.g., interpersonal, social media, mass communication, organizational communication, intercultural communication, political communication, communication ethics, environmental communication, family communication, rhetorical criticism, media criticism, theatre arts, and the scholarship of teaching and learning, etc.).
Two types of submissions are invited
1. Papers: Completed research or review articles may, upon acceptance, be programmed into panels and research roundtables. Papers should be submitted as MS Word documents, and should not exceed 25 pages, including references and tables/appendices, and citations, according to APA 6th edition guidelines. Each institution will nominate one student paper (can be a group paper) as their top paper. The top papers will be presented in the spotlight panel. These papers will receive a $50 award.
2. Roundtables/Research in Progress: Proposals for research in progress may be submitted for inclusion at a “Research in Progress” Roundtable, moderated by a faculty member. These proposals should be made in the form of an extended abstract (300-600 words) describing a research project that is currently in process.
