Canvas Learning Management Pilot opens Spring semester

Dear UNL Faculty member,

We invite you to apply to participate in a pilot of a learning management system (LMS) called Canvas this spring. Like Blackboard, the Canvas LMS gives instructors ways to provide content online to students, in addition to helping instructors manage many other types of student-course, student-student, and student-instructor interactions.

Faculty and students from other institutions such as Colorado State, Oregon State, and Penn State have piloted Canvas and selected it over Blackboard. Information Technology Services would like to find out what our faculty and students think of the features Canvas offers and we would appreciate your help in doing so.

It doesn’t matter if you currently use Blackboard a little bit or a lot. ITS is seeking a variety of courses in terms of course size, course type, and features employed. ITS will also help you set up your course in Canvas.

If you are willing to give Canvas a try, please fill out the participation form below. Not all courses submitted for the pilot will be selected due to a limited number of student seats available on the pilot system.

The deadline for applying to be a part of the pilot is October 9, 2015. ITS will contact you during October to let you know if your course has been selected for this pilot. If you have any questions or concerns at all, please reply to this email.
