Whether you are feeling sick, have an injury or experience another acute need, remember that UNL employees and their dependents who are 19 years and older are now eligible to receive medical care for urgent needs at the University Health Center.

In-person and telehealth care are available for employees and dependents on a same-day basis Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You must call ahead to receive care by dialing 402.472.5000. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

Examples of urgent concerns include:
• COVID-19, flu, common cold and other upper respiratory illness symptoms
• Abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea
• Headaches/migraines
• Eye pain and irritation (Ex: pink eye)
• Ear pain and pressure
• Injury (Ex: sprain, strain or laceration)
• Allergic reaction
• Chemical exposure
• Urinary tract infection, sexually transmitted infections and other genital concerns

Nonacute and routine concerns are ineligible for care, including chronic disease management, annual exams and birth control prescriptions, physicals, psychiatry and specialty services.

All services have a charge, which can be submitted to private insurance. Nebraska Medicine, the care provider at the University Heath Center, is a Tier 1 option for those enrolled in the university’s health insurance plan. This could mean a lower out-of-pocket cost compared to other community options. Services are billed at the community rate. Please consult your plan for more information.
