This month, University Academic Advising will offer several opportunities for training and professional development for advisors and other student success professionals. First, an event in partnership with Ryan Fette from Institutional Equity and Compliance will focus on Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Training for Advisors. This workshop is suitable for new staff and those seeking a refresher on best practices for responding to student disclosures about sexual misconduct. The workshop will take place on September 12, 2023 from 10-11:30am in the Nebraska Union. Advisors can sign up in Bridge. Note that this workshop does not replace the required online training on Title IX policies and procedures.
In late September, all advisors and student success professionals are invited to a workshop to identify and practice key helping skills. The Helping Skills for Advising and Student Success workshop will take place on September 27, 2023 from 1:15-2:45pm in the Nebraska Union. Participants will review important microcounseling skills suitable for advisors and engage in hands-on practice at using those skills through case study scenarios. Advisors can sign up in Bridge.
