A note from Eric Einspahr, Chair Elect of the Academic Advising Association (AAA)

Hello everyone!

First, I would like to invite everyone to fill out our 2016-2017 Membership Form. Please forward this to any new members of our UNL Advising Community who may not be on the adviser listserv.

Second, it is with great excitement that I announce the AAA Executive Team Members for 2016-2017!

Chair Elect – Meagan Savage
Communications Coordinator – Megan Carroll
Secretary – Doug Pellatz
Faculty Representative – Ann Tschetter
Graduate Student Representative – Kara Brant

In addition, the official vote to merge the Best Practices and Networking Committees passed.

I am excited to be working with the great AAA Executive Committee members we will have for 2016-2017!!!

As I look forward, I have the opportunity to think about the impact that the Executive Committee can make in the upcoming year. I feel this next year will be a great time to critically examine the progress that the Academic Advising Association has made, and to collect feedback from our members about ways that we can continue to serve our advising community best.

I also have an interest in student mental health. I would like to invite our campus resources to an AAA general meeting, so we can learn more about what we can do as advisers and what resources are available to help students in a vulnerable time.

I would also like to thank Kelly Payne for her service this past year as chair. Please join me in thanking her as you see her this summer at New Student Enrollment and around campus. It is critically important that we continue the conversations on diversity issues that she helped to start this year, and hope we as an organization can make these conversations part of our culture.

I look forward to working with all of you next year!
