Nebraska Law – The LSAT Waiver Is Back!

For the last two years, Nebraska Law admitted a small percentage of applicants without LSAT scores to its entering class. We were able to make these admissions due to an exception in the American Bar Association standards regarding law school admission. While we thought this exception was going away, the ABA recently notified all law schools that the LSAT waiver exception had been extended for another law school admissions cycle. Thus, Nebraska Law again has the ability to admit students for the 2017-2018 academic year without an LSAT score if the applicant meets specific criteria.

What does this mean for you as an advisor? It means that if you have advisees who are seniors or recent (August 2016) graduates that are interested in attending Nebraska Law but have not yet taken the LSAT, they should first see if they qualify for the LSAT waiver. To be eligible for the LSAT waiver, applicants must:

• Be a current UNL student or have graduated from UNL within 12 months of the date of law school matriculation (August 2017);
• Have scored at or above the 85th percentile on the ACT or SAT; and,
• Have achieved a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 or above through six semesters of work at UNL.

If you have students who may qualify for the LSAT waiver or have additional questions about the waiver, please reach out to Tracy Warren (tracy.warren@unl.edu) or Melissa McCoy (melissa.mccoy@unl.edu) with the Nebraska Law Admissions Office.
