1-Credit Recreational Activity Courses

Departmental Permission - If a course requires departmental permission, it is reserved for a specific student group. General student population cannot request a permission code to enroll. FITN 160 Section 952 and 959 are not open to the general student population.

Experience and Interest - Our classes are all activity based and therefore hold a certain level of risk. When recommending courses, please ensure that the student has the skills necessary to be successful in the activity. Please do not let students enroll in FITN 110G (Swimming II) or FITN 120J (Lifeguarding) if they cannot swim. All FTIN weight training classes progress from level 1 to level 4 throughout the semester. Please deter beginners from enrolling in advanced classes.

Risk Management - Classes are purposefully capped at a specific number due to required instructor to student ratios, quantity of equipment, and facility space fire code. Please have students contact us before attending a full class and asking for an override. We will absolutely do our best to place them in a course, but we are unable to accommodate every request.

Late Enrollment – Students are able to enroll in our mini-sessions without permission until the start date of the class. They do not need a form from us to enroll in open sessions that begin after the semester’s drop/add date.

Point of Contact – Please direct all questions and students to Liza Thalken, our new Instructional Outreach Coordinator (402-472-9479, liza.thalken@unl.edu). Vicki Highstreet is no longer your primary point of contact for information.
