New Math Override Form

The Department of Mathematics has created a new online course override form for students who need or want access to a FULL or CLOSED Math course. In the past, students were required to visit the Department of Mathematics office and fill out a form for the small chance of getting a seat into a full or closed course. This procedure led to standing room only times during the first week of classes in the Department of Mathematics office. We hope to change that this year by implementing a new online override request form. If you have students who need a Math course at a specific time based on their current schedule and the only course option is full, please have them review the full or closed course override policy and complete the override request form at https://www.math.unl.edu/Override_Request_Form_Policy. The Department of Mathematics hopes to have a few seats available for students with unavoidable course scheduling issues. These seats, if available, will be given away on a first come, first served basis. If you have questions about this new form and policy, please contact Doug Pellatz at dpellatz@unl.edu or 2-4319.

If your student is unable to enroll in a Math course due to a missing prerequisite according to MyRed and you know that the student should have the prerequisite fulfilled, please have them contact Doug directly or you can contact Doug directly on their behalf instead of completing the course override request form. Most Math courses require a ‘C’, ‘P’, or better grade in the prerequisite course, and MyRed is currently not recognizing ‘P’ grades and non-University system transfer credit grades (i.e., non-UNO, UNK, or UNMC grades) as fulfilling this requirement. So, these students will need a permission code, course override, or Math student group adjustment to be able to enroll in their next Math course on MyRed.
