Monday, December 2nd, 12:15-1:15pm, NE Union, City Campus The UCARE program allows students to work one-on-one with a faculty mentor to gain research experience and related skills. The program can enhance applications to graduate school and better prepare students for a career.
• Participants receive an annual stipend of $2,400. UCARE is open to students in all majors and disciplines.
• Upcoming application information sessions introduce students to the UCARE program and provide guidance on finding a project, approaching a prospective mentor, and writing an application proposal. The sessions are for funding in summer 2020 and the 2020-21 academic year.

SUITCASE TO BRIEFCASE: SELLING YOUR STUDY ABROAD EXPERIENCE IN YOUR NEXT JOB INTERVIEW

• So you’ve been abroad—but now what? In this come-and-go session, talk with career professionals on how to talk about your experience abroad. Bring a copy of your resume, your LinkedIn login and your job interview skills and see how you can set yourself apart from the crowd with your international experience.

• Hear about international fellowship opportunities that are open to ALL students by attending one of Dr. Laura Damuth’s two presentations. She’ll discuss the Fulbright US Student Program, the Critical Language Scholarship, the Boren Award, and how to create a compelling application.

• Students who have participated in internships abroad will share about the placement process and their experience working in another culture/country.
PREPARING FOR THE GRE

• Presented by Dr. Lisa Rohde, associate director of Teaching and Research Development, Office of Graduate Studies, this workshop will provide an overview of the GRE—including how to register for the test, what to expect at the testing center, and types of questions you’ll find on the GRE. All students considering graduate school are invited to attend.
