The Anthropology Spring Colloquium Series continues Friday at noon with Dr. Mark Kenoyer - "The Indus Valley Civilization and Oman During the 3rd Millennium BCE: Trade, Technology, and Cultural Interaction." Join us at noon in Burnett 115 for Dr. Kenoyer's talk.

Abstract:
This lecture will provide an overview of some of the main features of
the Indus Valley Civilization of Pakistan and western India, as well as
the Umm an Nar Culture of Oman during the 3rd millennium BCE. New
evidence from the excavations at the site of HD1, Ras al Hadd, Oman
as well as other sites from both the Indus and Eastern Arabia will be
presented to highlight important patterns of trade, technological
development and various aspects of cultural interaction. Important
technologies such as copper working, textile and fiber production,
stone bead manufacture and pottery making will be discussed to show
some important similarities as well as differences between the different
regions.
