Federal Work Study Position

Seeking students looking for a Federal Work Study position who are enthusiastic with a passion and knowledge of art to serve as Visitor Service Associate for the Sheldon Museumof Art. The Visitor Service Associate is responsible for providing a welcoming and safe environment for visitors to the museum. Individuals will share their enthusiasm and knowledge of art with visitors, provide coverage of the front desk, monitor museum galleries and assist visitors needs during public hours. Help security personnel to maintain the security of guests, the collection and building. Visitor Service Associate will also assist with set-up and tear-down of events and serve as event ambassador. Successful candidate must possess enthusiastic customer service, excellent communication skills, and have a general knowledge and appreciation of art/art history.

HOURS: 10-15 hours/week; hours flexible
PAY: $10/hour

Seeking an individual with an interest in hospitality to serve as the Events Coordinator for the Sheldon Museum of Art. The Events Coordinator, working under the direction of the Event Operations Manager, is responsible for the smooth and successful implementation of events, ranging from venue rentals by external clients to museum-specific programming. The person in this position is tasked with fielding inquiries by telephone and email, determining event logistics, facilitating event set-up an take-down, and upholding all Sheldon Museum of Art and
University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) policies and procedures. This position will oversee event execution and is the first point of contact for clients and vendors when the Event Operations Manager is not present.

The Event Coordinator also acts as the museum manager on duty during evening and weekend public hours. They will offer superior customer service to guests by answering question, providing information on the building and its collection, and clearly interpreting policies and procedures.

The typical work week is Wednesday through Sunday, evening and weekend hours as dictated by events and public hours.
