Currently Seeking an Art & Design Director:
As Art & Design Director, you will lead our Art & Design team through weekly art assignments based on what The Daily Nebraskan editorial sections are publishing as well as overseeing any projects outside of the general coverage such as graphics for the social media platforms, designing our project magazine and help establish and deploy a cohesive brand design across all of the platforms. They are seeking a motivated and creative individual who is looking to lead a team and bring fresh ideas to the operation.
Position Expectations:
• Required to attend all weekly staff meetings - held on Sundays
• Work in the office at least 3 days per week with remote work possible
• Manages day-to-day operations of the art & design section
• Communicates with other sections to determine the vision of art and graphics for editorial content as well as social media content
• Tracks content and distributes funds to art & design staff members accordingly on a monthly basis
• Oversees hiring for the art & design section by regularly checking the hiring board and contacting/interviewing potential staffers
• Trains new staffers and continues to train existing staffers with workshops and training checklists
• Sets clear expectations and goals for the art & design section to hold staffers accountable
• Collaborates with engagement editor(s) on social media strategies, aesthetics of the accounts and the newsletter
• Is familiar with The Daily Nebraskan's style guide and ensures all design content is styled cohesively
• Has extensive experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (particularly InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator)
• Oversees design of the DN endowment magazines
• Works with other section editors to brainstorm and collaborate when needed
