The Art & Art History Department is delighted to welcome Dr. Emilia Quiñones Otal, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Humanities at the University of Puerto Rico.

This lecture is this Wednesday, Feb 21, at 4:00 pm in Brace Hall 206.

Dr. Quiñones-Otal’s lecture, “Marcos Irizarry: Graphics, Abstraction, and Muralism,” will cover her recent research project on the Puerto Rican artist Marcos Irizarry, including the politics of abstraction and curatorial practices across Puerto Rico.

Dr. Quiñones-Otal is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Humanities that specializes in ecofeminist art history and the graphic arts of the Caribbean and Central America. In 2021, she co-curated the exhibition "Turned Into Sterile Land" at the Puerto Rico Museum of Contemporary Art. In 2019, she was a visiting scholar at Princeton University’s Program in Latin American Studies.
