A Zoom Conversation with Sandy Stone and Marji Vecchio, Nov 13. 5:30 p.m.

Humanities on the Edge will host "Whatever I Tell You I'm Going To Do Is Never Going To Happen -- So Trans Out, Bro”, a virtual conversation between media artist and trans*feminist theorist Alluquére Roseanne “Sandy” Stone, and director Marji Vecchio on November 13, 5:30 p.m. CST, via Zoom.

Media pioneer, Allucquere Rosanne ‘Sandy’ Stone has established herself as one of the most prominent trans* theorists of our time. As the sound engineer for the first lesbian separatist and feminist music label - Olivia Records - she charted a path for all women and gender fluid people in technology and interdisciplinary practice from the 1970s to today. In this event, Sandy will discuss her upcoming documentary film, Girl Island: The Sandy Stone Story, with director Marjorie Vecchio.

Sandy Stone is an audio engineer, media artist, and trans* theorist. She is the subject of the documentary film Girl Island: The Sandy Stone Story, which features animation by award-winning graphic novelist Bishkah Som and interviews with Donna Haraway, Susan Stryker, Kate Bornstein, and Chris Kraus. Sandy’s essay, “The Empire Strikes Back: A Posttranssexual Manifesto,” contributed to the founding of transgender studies programs in academia.
