Sheldon is hiring Student Ambassadors for 2026-27

Sheldon Student Ambassadors play an important role in creating meaningful experiences for university students and other museum visitors. Ambassadors facilitate interdisciplinary learning sessions in Sheldon’s galleries for students in courses across the curriculum. They represent Sheldon at campus events and collaborate with university student organizations to implement co-curricular programs related to Sheldon’s exhibitions. They create interpretive content for both print and digital vehicles, including Sheldon’s Bloomberg Connects app and zine vending machine. During the fall 2026 semester, they will also lead weekly tours of the exhibition Remembering Modern Art: Collection of the Museum of American Art.

Ambassadors receive in-depth training in museum learning, interpretive strategies, audience engagement, and Sheldon exhibitions and collections. Weekly training sessions led by Sheldon’s engagement staff include presentations by curators and other professionals, and discussions of assigned readings and student research.

Ambassadors hone skills in critical thinking, visual analysis, public speaking, collaboration, and communications as well as develop an understanding of and familiarity with a range of art and museum work. During the spring 2027 semester, Ambassadors will visit a regional art museum together to further their professional development and network.

Sheldon Student Ambassadors work approximately five hours per week, including weekly training sessions held on Fridays from 9 to 11 a.m., and earn $15 per hour.
