Photographer Andrea Modica opens the spring Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 in Richards Hall 15.

Andrea Modica is a Guggenheim Fellow, a Fulbright Scholar and a Knight Award recipient. Her extensive exhibition record includes solo exhibitions at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and the San Diego Museum of Photographic Arts. Her photographs are part of the permanent collections of numerous institutions and she lives in Philadelphia where she works as a photographer and teaches at Drexel University and the International Center of Photography.

Underwritten by the Hixson-Lied Endowment with additional support from other sources, the series enriches the culture of the state by providing a way for Nebraskans to interact with luminaries in the fields of art, art history and design. Each visiting artist or scholar spends one to three days on campus to meet with classes, participate in critiques and give demonstrations. All lectures in the series are free and open to the public.
