Dear Friends of the Hixson-Lied College,

It has been a time of great change at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln as we, along with the entire world, deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. What doesn’t change is our commitment to the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and patrons.

As you may have heard, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is shifting to remote learning on March 30. That is a particular challenge for us in the arts. But our faculty are working hard to find creative solutions to ensure our course objectives are met and that our students continue their progress on their degrees.

Beginning March 23, most of our staff operations are happening remotely as well. Academic building exterior entry doors will be locked and require a university ID (N-Card) to gain access. Please continue to call (402-472-9339) or e-mail either the college (unlarts@unl.edu) or unit faculty and staff (http://directory.unl.edu) if you have questions or need anything from any of our units. We will still be in contact via e-mail and phone and will continue to conduct our operations remotely.

Most of our public events, including concerts, performances and lectures, are canceled for the remainder of the semester. Please visit this website for all of the latest information on cancellations, changes and ticket refunds: https://go.unl.edu/covid19fpa.

Please follow the College and our units on social media for additional updates and information as we find creative ways to continue to share our faculty and student work with you in the coming weeks:
@UNLArts (Hixson-Lied College)
@UNLSomusic (Glenn Korff School of Music)
@ArtUNL (School of Art, Art History & Design) (@unlart on Instagram)
@eisentragerhoward (Eisentrager-Howard Gallery on Instagram)
@NebCarsonSchool (Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film)
@nebraskarepertory (Nebraska Repertory Theatre on Instagram)
@carsoncenterunl (Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts)

I encourage everyone to follow the social distancing recommendations (maintaining a distance of at least six feet between people) and to stay safe during these challenging times. We look forward to welcoming you to our theatres, concert halls and galleries again when it is safe to do so.

Sincerely,

Chuck O’Connor
Endowed Dean
