The Glenn Korff School of Music’s Campus Band will perform a concert titled “Hear My Voice” on Sunday, May 1 at 1 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

The concert is free and open to the public. It will also be live webcast. Visit https://music.unl.edu/webcasts the day of the performance for the link.

The program includes music by Biedenbender, Colonna, Reed, Shapiro, Shostakovich and others.

The concert will conclude with the combined bands performing a world premiere of Zachary J. Friedland’s “Hear My Voice” in memory of the late UNL Bandsman Tyler Butterfield. The piece was commissioned by the Midwest District of Kappa Kappa Psi and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Butterfield, a trumpet player in the Cornhusker Marching Band, Big Red Express and UNL Campus Bands, passed away on Oct. 26, 2018, as the result of a car accident after attending a pep band event before a home football game.

“Please come enjoy some great band music and join us as we honor the memory of Tyler,” said director Doug Bush, Assistant Director of Bands.

The Campus Band is the university’s largest concert band. Its select mission is to provide a high quality performance venue for musicians representing a wide array of musical backgrounds and major fields of study within the university.

Kimball Recital Hall is located at 1113 R St. on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln city campus. Currently, UNL no longer requires face masks inside our campus buildings. Details, exclusions and updates can be found on the UNL website at https://covid19.unl.edu.
