• Continuing through Oct. 7: "Building a Narrative: Production Art and Pop Culture" exhibition. Eisentrager-Howard Gallery. The gallery is open Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30 p.m. (with a brief closure each day from 2-2:30 p.m.). Free admission. The exhibition features original artwork from popular films, animated television series, comics and trading cards from local collector Trent Claus (B.F.A. 2006).

• Sept. 2: First Friday event in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. 5-7 p.m. Free and open to the public. Trent Claus will be available to talk to visitors about the exhibition "Building a Narrative: Production Art and Pop Culture" and his collection featured in the exhibition.

• Sept. 2: Geske Cinema Showcase featuring producer Tory Lenosky (BFA 2007). A Q&A with the audience will follow the 7:30 p.m. screening of "Resurrection." Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. For tickets and other information, visit https://go.unl.edu/resurrection. Originally from Omaha, Emmy-nominated producer Lenosky has worked as a producer on 22 movies. She most recently produced the 2022 New York Times Critic’s Pick feature film “Resurrection” (starring Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and will play at The Ross Sept. 2-15.

• Sept. 7: Guest Artist Lecture by alumnus Trent Claus (BFA 2006). 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. The Eisentrager-Howard Gallery will remain open until 7:30 p.m. that evening. Claus is a visual effects supervisor for Lola VFX. His collection of original artwork from popular films, animated television series, comics and trading cards is on display in the exhibition "Building a Narrative: Production Art and Pop Culture" in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery through Oct. 7.

• Sept. 18: Guest Artist Nick May, saxophone. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Recital Hall Rm. 119. Free and open to the public.

• Sept. 21: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture: Richard Heitzman. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Working in multiple mediums, Heitzman has had a long career in the arts, media and popular culture. As a visual artist, he has exhibited drawings, design, paintings and performance in galleries and museums throughout the country, including The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Houston. Much of Heitzman’s early career was devoted to developing series television. He designed and directed animated and live-action series for Cartoon Network, Children’s Television Workshop, CBS-TV and Fox-TV. Working with luminaries such as Tim Burton, Lily Tomlin and Eddie Murphy to turn their visions into film and TV. He has been awarded four Emmy awards for Co-Production Design, Art Direction and Title Design.
