Landis wins Mayor’s Art Award

Jen Landis, assistant professor of practice in graphic design in the School of Art, Art History & Design, is among the winners of this year’s Mayor’s Art Awards.

Landis will receive the Gladys Lux Art Education Award for her work to create three educational art communities for girls and young women at the event on Friday, Oct. 28 at the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts. The awards are presented by Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and the Lincoln Arts Council.

Landis loves encouraging young artists to explore new ways to express themselves and gain confidence through art. She is the creative director/owner of Pincurl Girls (https://pincurlgirls.com), a company whose mission is to inspire girls to believe in and love themselves.

She has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and advertising. Landis received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in graphic design and her Master of Fine Arts in digital art and new media from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
