Students in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film will host an Open Studios event on Friday, Dec. 8 from 5-7 p.m. in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts.
Work from multiple classes from the fall semester will be on display from students in both the Emerging Media Arts and Theatre-Design and Technical Production programs. The event is free and open to the public.
“The work of these students have been generated in a variety of modalities from collaborative teams simulating production companies, to individual artist centric pieces,” said J.D. Madsen, Associate Professor of Scenic Design and Head of Design and Technology. “They showcase the work and training to teach students how to be story driven in their creative processes with an eye focused to audience impact in their work. This means their work and training cannot be fully complete without an audience to view and react to the work.”
Madsen said students will be present at the event.
“The various student creators will also be present at the event that evening and are open to being interacted with to discuss their work, or will simply observe how the audience responds to their efforts,” he said. “We appreciate our communities support of our students and recognize the vital role they play in furthering their training.”
