• Aug. 30: IGNITE Colloquium: Megan Elliott. 12:30-1:50 p.m. Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts Rm. 101. Free and open to the public. Elliott, the Founding Director of the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, will be our featured speaker at the premiere IGNITE Colloquium. IGNITE is a weekly colloquium for all Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts students, which will involve guest lectures, workshops and seminars around creative and professional development.
• Aug. 30: Open house to explore the history of Nebraska's Cornhusker Marching Band. 3:30-4:30 p.m. Love Library, Room 218. The organization is celebrating a 140-year milestone this year. As a partnership with the Archives and Special Collections department of University Libraries, the open house will unveil a new website dedicated to marching band history. The site will include 60 videos, some dated as early as the 1920's. The videos were digitized by alumnus Gary Steffens, the Band Alumni Association, and University Libraries. Beginning at 3:45 p.m., Cornhusker Marching Band director Tony Falcone and band alumna and website developer Jessica Dussault will give brief remarks.
• Sept. 4: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture: Vanessa German. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Visual and performance artist German is based in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Homewood, which is the driving force behind her powerful performance work, and whose cast-off relics form the language of her copiously embellished sculptures. As a citizen artist, German explores the power of art and love as a transformative force in the dynamic cultural ecosystem of communities and neighborhoods. She is the founder of Love Front Porch and the ARThouse, a community arts initiative for the children of Homewood.
• Sept. 6: IGNITE Colloquium: Joseph Krings. 12:30-1:50 p.m. Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts Rm. 101. Free and open to the public. Krings is an editor of narrative and documentary films, including "After the Wedding" and "Captain Fantastic." IGNITE is a weekly colloquium for all Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts students, which will involve guest lectures, workshops and seminars around creative and professional development.
• Sept. 6: The Norman A. Geske Cinema Showcase presents editor and UNL alumnus Joseph Brings for a Q&A with the audience following the 7:30 p.m. screening of "After the Wedding." Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. For more information and tickets, visit https://go.unl.edu/vxiu.
• Sept. 6-20: "Fresh!" Exhibition. Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. A First Friday opening reception will be held on Sept. 6 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. Curated by the director of the gallery, Patricia Davis, this exhibition showcases the creative energies of 20 local School of Art, Art History & Design alumni who graduated with Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts or Master of Fine Arts degrees in studio art and graphic design from 2010 – 2019.
• Sept. 11: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture: Bill Arning. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Arning was the director of the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston from 2009-2018 and was previously the curator at MIT’s Last Visual Arts Center from 2000-2009.

• Sept. 11: Broadway at the Lied Featuring the Music of Scott Frankel and Michael Korie. 7:30 p.m. Free and open to the public. Directed by Alisa Belflower, University of Nebraska-Lincoln students and local talent will join the award-winning composing team of Scott Frankel and Michael Korie on the Lied's mainstage.

At a combined convocation that the public is invited to attend, we will be highlighting the history of the School of Music with an anniversary celebration that will include performances by School of Music faculty and students.
• Sept. 12: Amicitia Duo. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Free and open to the public. Featuring Diane Barger, clarinet, and guest artist Denise Gainey, clarinet, with Mark Clinton, piano.
• Sept. 13: IGNITE Colloquium: Kevin Cunningham. 12:30-1:50 p.m. Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts Rm. 101. Free and open to the public. Cunningham is an award-winning, New York-based artist and producer. He is the founder and Executive Artistic Director of 3-Legged Dog Media and Theater Group. Over the last 16 years he also ran 3LD Art & Technology Center, 3-Legged Dog's multi-venue high tech development studio for experimental arts of all kinds in Lower Manhattan. IGNITE is a weekly colloquium for all Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts students, which will involve guest lectures, workshops and seminars around creative and professional development.

• Sept. 18: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture: Aleksander Wozniak. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Wozniak is a Poland-based artist, printmaker and teacher at the University of Warmia and Mazury in the city of Olsztyn.
