The School of Art, Art History & Design is pleased to welcome Aleksander Wazniak as a visiting artist.
Wozniak teaches multiple printmaking techniques as Associate Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Warmia and Mazury University in Olsztyn, Poland. His research has focused on original explorations of Mokuhana woodblock techniques, Nagahi-zuki papermaking, and the drawing trail with emphasis on the act of transposition of gesture in woodcut. In 2018, he was a visiting researcher at Tokyo University of Arts in Japan. His project resulted in the creation of an artistic piece involving 1,200 illustrations and graphics which he presented during a solo exhibition at the Bureau of Artistic Exhibitions in Olsztyn in 2018. Alexander Wozniak will lecture about negative space and the issue of transformation in the process of composition in art.
The Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series is underwritten by the Hixson-Lied Endowment, with additional support from other sources. The program brings notable artists, scholars and designers to the University of Nebraska; enhancing the education of our students and enriching the culture of the state by providing a way for the public to interact with luminaries in the fields of art, art history and design. All the lectures in this series are free and open to the public.
