Announcements for Students

• Fall Elgas Project Grant proposals are due to artgrants@unl.edu by 5pm on September 8, 2017. The Elgas Project Grants support degree-seeking undergraduate art majors by providing financial support for independent creative research projects. Supported projects will receive funding up to $750.00 based on the quality of applications submitted and funding availability. All work supported by an Elgas Project Grant must be exhibited in a public gallery. Acceptable venues include the MEDICI Gallery and the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery. Alternative spaces are also acceptable.

•Hixson-Lied Endowment Student Grant Information Sessions have been scheduled for Friday, Sept. 15th from 4-5 p.m. in Richards Hall 121, and Tuesday, Sept. 19th from 5-6 p.m. in Westbrook 107. Associate Dean Christopher Marks will give a short overview of the student grants available and then answer questions. Available student grants to be covered in these informational sessions include Student Study Grants (International or Domestic), Student Presentation of Scholarly/Creative Activity Grants, and Undergraduate and Graduate Student Scholarly and Creative Activity Grants. The next deadline for grant applications is Sept. 29 for the summer or fall term. Additional application information is available at http://go.unl.edu/fpastudentgrants

•Eisentrager•Howard Gallery seeks a student employee who can work in the gallery between 12:30 and 2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Interested students who are available to work at the times noted above may apply in 120 Richards Hall.

•The Art Fabrication Space has new hours of operation beginning September 6th. Please note that the lab will be closed daily from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The schedule, with the exception of the 30 minute daily closure noted above, will be:

Wednesday 8:30am – 5:00pm
Thursday 8:00am – 7:00pm

•The Digital Lab provides laser cutter training to interested students enrolled in Art, Art History & Design class. Training takes place the first Friday of every month. Upcoming training dates are October 6, November 3rd, and December 1st. Training starts at 10AM in Woods Art Building room 210 (Digital Lab) and lasts about 1 hour. Training is good for 1 year. Students will be able to rent out the laser cutter in 1.5 hour increments after training, and it is available Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm excluding hours designated for specific classes.
