Greg Bashford, Nicole Iverson and six other professors hosted nine undergraduates as REU scholars from June 4 – August 10.
The Nebraska Summer Research Program allows undergraduates to take part in nationally funded research in biomedical engineering, introducing them to life as a graduate student and culminating in a poster session.
"The program went spectacularly," Bashford said, as principal investigator on the three-year National Science Foundation grant.
Nicole Iverson and Angie Pannier also take part in the program, along with one faculty member from Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and five from Mechanical and Materials Engineering. Each professor typically mentors one student for the summer.
