Graduate students Aaron Engel and John T. Evans, IV, took home two out of the three Milton E. Mohr fellowships awarded by CASNR for the 2017-2018 school year.
The $3,000 fellowship is awarded to outstanding students in biotechnology and engineering and added to their assistantships.
Students are nominated by their advisor or the graduate committee chair and must have documented teaching experience or interest. Greg Bashford advises Engel, and Santosh Pitla and Joe Luck advise Evans.
"Throughout my graduate studies, I have received constant support from the faculty, staff, and my fellow students within the Department of Biological Systems Engineering," Engel said. "I am incredibly proud to receive the Milton E. Moore Fellowship as it indicates I have made a positive impact in our community on East Campus, and I hope to continue to make a positive impact just as you all have made an impact on me."
The award's namesake, Mohr, received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1938 and went on to become the president and CEO of Quotron Systems.
