A 2014 BSEN graduate, Andrew Taylor, is on the list for a heart transplant and his family has started a GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/andrews-heart-transplant.
Taylor came to the university from South Dakota and developed an interest in medical devices after having a cardioverter-defibrillator implanted in 2014. He had been diagnosed with an extra large heart 10 years before and was taking medications to control symptoms.
After graduating, he went to work for the makers of his ICD, Boston Scientific. He has been working as a clinical field representative in Cardiac Rhythm Management in Duluth, Minnesota, since January 2017.
According to the GoFundMe site, Taylor is in good health other than his heart and is an ideal candidate for a heart transplant.
He is now in the intensive care unit at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis and awaiting the transplant. His family is using the GoFundMe site to raise $100,000 to pay for medical expenses.
