Name: Abby White
Job Title: Research Assistant

Where do you hail from:
I’m originally from Iowa City, Iowa, but I moved to Nebraska from Chicago, Illinois.

What is it they say you do:
I’m a graduate student at the University of Nebraska-Omaha in the Industrial/Organizational Psychology program. I’m very excited to be working with CCFL on the waiver project.

What has been your greatest source of career satisfaction/ proudest achievement:
I recently defended my Master’s thesis. I’m not sure if it’s my proudest achievement, but it was exciting to jump that hurdle!

What has been an unexpected detour/ greatest frustration/disappointment:
Organizational psychology was an unexpected detour for me! When I graduated college, I really wanted to perform Opera; and I ended up going to Roosevelt University in Chicago to get a Master’s of Music. After I was finished, I got a job at a real estate company to help pay my bills while I started trying to build a performing career. Through my experiences at that organization, I became really interested in how organizations work. I ended up applying to graduate programs in organizational psychology and ended up here! I don’t think I ever really dreamed that I’d be studying organizational psychology in college (I doubt I even knew what it was), but I’m very happy I found myself here.

Family life/hobbies /community involvement:
I really enjoy opera and live concerts. I don’t have a whole lot of free time outside of school, but when I do I enjoy being active and spending time with friends.
