Job Description:
Position will be based out of the Northern Service Area, which includes Norfolk, Columbus, and Fremont. Instruct and guide new Nebraska Department Health and Human Services (NDHHS) Child and Family Services (CFS) trainees in all components of pre-service training including: field training, individualized instruction, and classroom training. The Field Training Specialist (FTS) will work directly with trainees helping them develop the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to serve the State’s children and families as CFS workers. Extensive travel may be required. Evenings and weekends may be required on occasion.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, or a closely related field of study plus two years of experience performing Children and Family Services (CFS) work in Nebraska required. Must have a working knowledge of policy and practice for child welfare. Public relations skills and experience working with attorneys, the courts, and community agencies essential. Excellent written/oral communication and organizational skills, flexibility, creativity, and the ability to work independently are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, or a closely related field of study preferred. Training, coaching, and/or mentoring experience preferred. Development and delivery of adult educational courses desirable.
