This week we'll hear from Lauren Sparks who is a Graduate Research Assistant at CCFL.
Where do you hail from: I grew up on a farm near Plattsmouth, Nebraska, but attended Conestoga Public Schools. I graduated in May with my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and will be beginning the Industrial Organizational Psychology M/S Program at UNO in the fall.
What is it they say you do: Here at CCFL I’m currently helping to work on the QIC-WD project.
What has been your greatest source of career satisfaction/ proudest achievement: My proudest achievement thus far has been my graduate school admittance.
What has been an unexpected detour: An unexpected detour in my life has been my venture into the psychology field. My entire high school and early college career I felt as though my calling in life was to be in Sports Medicine. However, as I slowly realized that wasn’t the career for me, I selected psychology as a potential major and it has consequently become a professional field I’ve come to love.
Family life/hobbies /community involvement:
When I’m not at CCFL, I work at the Lincoln Children’s Museum part time where I love getting to interact with all families and cute kiddos that come in. In my free time I like watching Netflix, attempting craft projects, and spending time my three loving cats, Pokey, Leo and Tyson.
The quotation I live my life by is......
My favorite quote comes from the Netflix Series- The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt:
“You get to live your life the way you want. That’s the whole point of not being in a bunker. No one gets to tell you what to do” – Kimmy Schmidt
