Name: Cheryl Turner
Job Title: Training Specialist

Where do you hail from:
Washington D.C. When others were doing field trips to Morrill Hall and Sheldon Art Gallery, I got to visit the White House and the Smithsonian. I moved to Colorado in middle school and came to Lincoln in 1993 to attend UNL. Twenty-five years later, I am still here.

What is it they say you do:
Depends on who you ask. I train under the Child and Family Services Training Contract, and I am the Lincoln Public Schools Trauma Consultant. My boss would probably say I “cause chaos.”

Who are your early influences/who inspired you most:
I wouldn’t say I have a lot of early influences, but my children and every other child, adolescent, and adult I come into contact with who overcame the difficulties they faced with success and growth are the ones that inspire me most.

What has been your greatest source of career satisfaction/ proudest achievements?
My greatest source of career satisfaction and proudest achievement is working at CCFL. It may seem cliché, but it’s the truth. To be a part of such a professional, brilliant team that allows me the opportunity to expand my professional goals is all I could have ever asked for.

Family life/hobbies /community involvement:
When I am not working, I am spending time with my children (ages 21), my stepchildren (ages 6 and 7), and my husband. Family is the most important thing to me; we find activities that we can do together, including BMX, bowling, and soccer. My hobby goal is to be one of 32 women who represent the USA on the world championship BMX track in 2020 in Houston, Texas.

The quotation I live my life by is......
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”-Albert Einstein
