Name: Tamara Cartwright
Job Title: HMIS Systems Administrator

Where do you hail from:
York, Nebraska; Home of the Chances R and the State Penitentiary for women.

What is it they say you do:
Like most people at CCFL, it depends on who you ask. Simply put, I work with the agencies that serve the homeless and those at risk of homelessness in Lincoln and across Nebraska outside of Omaha.

Who are your early influences/who inspired you most:
My maternal grandmother. She was a very independent women long before most women thought of being independent. She lived through the depression, so hard work and perseverance were her norm. She had a quiet yet strong faith and lead by example.

What has been your greatest source of career satisfaction/ proudest achievement:
My proudest work achievement was receiving the College of Arts and Science’s APPLAUSE award. This was a total shock (probably to Jeff too), and then it was followed by the Kudos Award from the UNL Board of Regents. I was humbled by the community I serve with.

Family life/hobbies /community involvement:
I am “crafty” – to consider myself an artist, to me would mean, I do my hobbies daily and time does not allow. I do stained glass, and my love for licking rocks will keep me into my “golden” years. It is a dying art, and I consider myself very lucky to have not one but two young family members that share my passion.

The quotation I live my life by is......
“Happiness is found within”.
