This week’s Word on the Street question was:

What job did you have in high school?

I worked at a clothing boutique called Ormond’s when I was in high school in Erie, PA. I think I worked there about a year during my junior-senior year, and never had much take-home pay because I spent it all on new clothes that would come in to the store!

I was a CNA at Tabitha and worked in the Alzheimer’s unit. I also volunteered regularly with the Friendship Home, babysat, and took a few odd jobs whenever opportunities presented themselves.

I had many jobs throughout high school. I rogued and detassled, along with working on my family’s farm. That consisted of just about anything that you can think of with a farm and ranch that had chickens, pigs, cows, sheep, and horses. For a short time, I made some extra cash by breaking horses with my father but all I did was make money to pay the doctor visits because I was not all that patient with the horses. Most of my time in high school was spent fundraising for the football camps that I was invited too. Lastly I did spend about a year at Olympia Village which was an athletic shoe store.

I worked as a Lifeguard and swim lesson instructor at the local pool. Later, I worked at the County Attorney’s office, with duties that included driving the county attorney at the time to a college class he was teaching, and in which I was a student. That was nerve wracking!
