Workplace Wellness: Progress

Progress
Progress

Progress does not always come in leaps and bounds. Instead, it often happens slowly, with small and steady steps forward. We could say the same for healthy lifestyle changes. Often drastic diets and extreme workouts will become unfeasible over time. But little intentional choices can add up to a lifetime of healthy habits.

When we are realistic and specific in our goals, our chances of success improve immensely. For example, if we say, “I want to eat healthier,” that is too vague and immense. Instead, we can say, “I will add two more servings of vegetables per day.” Or, “I will replace one unhealthy snack with a protein shake.”

Specificity brings about achievability. We can pick one healthy habit. Practice one healthy habit. And positive progress will be made.

1. What is one healthy habit you practice daily?
2. What led you to that decision?
3. Have you noticed a difference in how you feel?
4. What new healthy habit would you like to add?

Email me (Mindy) your response to the questions above. In an upcoming Workplace Wellness, I will share the answers anonymously. As friends and co-workers, we can inspire, learn from and support each other!

We all have unique bodies and individual life circumstances. Knowledge about our world and health is continually evolving. So while there is no one-size-fits-all perfect lifestyle, we can encourage each other on the journey.

The approach does not need to be all or nothing when working towards a healthier you. Small steps still move us forward. It is the little changes that over time make a big difference.

What small step will you take today?
