This week's Word on the Street question was:
Do you listen to podcasts? Any in particular that you recommend or have become fascinated with?
I do not. I prefer to listen to my music! – Stacie Z.
Yes. I listen to "Stay Tuned with Preet", "Freakonomics", and "Serial". –Allison Jones
“My Favorite Murder” (MFM) https://www.myfavoritemurder.com/, Karen and Georgia host MRM, which is a weekly true crime comedy podcast. Each episode is an hour or two. MFM is similar to TV shows like Dateline, Making a Murderer, 48 Hours, etc. – only mixed with standup comedy. The podcast is loaded with curse words, so keep that in mind if you plan to check it out. –Jessie Cook
“Stuff You Should Know” (SYSK) https://www.stuffyoushouldknow.com, the Hosts Chuck and Josh discuss everything. The tops they cover in SYSK is all over the place – from ball point pens, to Amelia Earhart, to when to change your oil. – Jessie Cook
I listen to many different podcasts as I travel. Here are a few: “True Crime Garage”, “Serial”, “This American Life”, and “Disgraceland.” I would like to add that one additional podcast that has really touched me. It’s called “Believed.” It’s about the Larry Nassar case partly, but the big picture for me is how one person can groom a child, parent and community. Krista and I were told about by a HHS administrator. –Paulette Sombke
I mostly listen to sports radio that I have missed throughout the day. Paulette Sombke got me started on “True Crime Garage” that I will listen to from time to time. But mostly it is sports radio. –Cody Struss
“Serial.” Mainly about various court cases, I find it hard to stop listening. https://serialpodcast.org. Serial tells one story — a true story — over the course of a season. My favorite murder is also one I love. –Cheryl Turner
