Working Title: Training Associate

Description of Work:
Instruct and guide NDHHS Child and Family Services Specialist (CFSS) trainees and current workers in components of New Worker and In-service Training: Instructor-led training (face-to-face and delivered in a classroom-style environment, simulation room or home environment, simulation court room, or computer lab), distance learning (webinar and self-paced online training), and support transfer of learning to prepare Child and Family Services (CFS) Specialists to serve as case managers to Nebraska’s children and their families identified as in need of child welfare intervention because of abuse or neglect. The Training Specialist will collaborate with the CCFL training team as well as work directly with trainees or current workers to help them develop knowledge, skills and abilities needed to serve the State’s children and families as Children and Family Services Specialists . Travel may be extensive. Evening and weekends may be required.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, or a closely related field of study plus two years of relevant case management experience with NDHHS or performing Children and Family Services (CFS) work in Nebraska.

Knowledge of, or ability to learn, various software or platforms (e.g., WebEx, Moodle, Vimeo) is desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills; computer skills and familiarity with office equipment; Proofreading experience is highly desirable. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and handle last minute tasks. Willingness to participate in training role plays is desirable.

All applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a DMV background check authorizing them to operate university vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, or a closely related field of study preferred. Training, coaching, and/or mentoring experience preferred. Development and delivery of adult educational courses desirable.

Working knowledge of policy and practice for child welfare. Public relations skills and experience working with attorneys, the courts, and community agencies essential.
