Sue Kemp has been awarded the 2014 Susan Phillips Gorin Award from the Council for Exceptional Children. This award recognizes professional members, especially CEC student chapter advisors, who demonstrate exemplary personal and professional qualities and make outstanding contributions to CEC and to children with exceptionalities. Among her many activities, Sue has served as the faculty advisor for our Student Council for Exceptional Children for 9 years. In this role, she exposes our students to service learning, engages their connections with the community, and develops their professional engagement through experiences at the CEC Convention. Her contributions to CEC student members facilitates their development as leaders who provide the very best education using evidence based practice, who advocate for students, families, and communities to have access to resources for learning and improved quality of life, and who support local, regional, national, and international communities in meaningful ways.
