Barlow Awarded NIH Grant

Steven Barlow has been awarded a $3.3 million grant from the NIH (National Institute on Child and Human Development) to extend his research with feeding disorders in premature infants. Steven and colleagues will be mapping the molecular pathways and biomarkers for genes responsible for development of hunger, satiation, and the biomechanics of sucking/eating to understand the assembly of the parts of the brain that make up feeding circuits. The work will improve diagnostic capability as to whether or not a premature infant is ready to begin feeding and ultimately will advance the quality of care for these infants.

Congratulations Steven.
