‘BrainStorm’ at Sunday with a Scientist in Morrill Hall

The University of Nebraska State Museum’s March Sunday with a Scientist program for children and families will explore how scientists uncover the inner workings of the brain with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior (CB3). The program will take place on Sunday, March 13 from 1:30-4:30pm at Morrill Hall (south of 14th and Vine Streets on the UNL City Campus).

Steven Barlow, professor and associate director of CB3, with associate professor Michael Dodd, and assistant professors Ingrid Haas, Matthew Johnson and Maital Neta will lead visitors in a variety of hands-on activities to learn more about brain function. Children will have an opportunity to experience a patterned touch using the GALILEO Somatosensory Stimulator, a demonstration of Electroencephalography (EEG) – measurement of the electrical activity of the brain, (MAITAL’S STATION), plus more.

Sunday with a Scientist is a series of presentations that highlight the work of neuroscientists, while educating children and families on a variety of topics related to science and natural history. Presenters share scientific information in a fun informal way through demonstrations, activities or by conducting science on site.

CB3 is supported in part by Epic Medical Concepts & Innovations, Inc. (Mission, Kansas), the National Institutes of Health, and the Barkley Trust Foundation.
