SECD brown bag sessions get underway Sept. 22

The Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders will host five brown bag sessions at the Barkley Memorial Center during the fall semester. The brown bags are intended primarily to allow graduate students to present and respond to research topics, while receiving feedback from the people in attendance.

The brown bag sessions for the fall semester are listed below. All presentations are held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in room 131 of the Barkley Memorial Center.

Sept. 22: SECD grant opportunities – group discussion to compile a list of various regional and national grant opportunities open to faculty and/or students in the department

Oct. 6: Cynthia Cress – “Applying for Small Business grants (SBIRs and STTRs)”

Oct. 27: American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) poster presentations

Nov. 17: Julia Roehling & Pam Bazis – “Writing and Audience Awareness: A Meta-Analysis”

Dec. 8: Carly Dinnes – “Writing Changes and Perceptions after Traumatic Brain Injury”

Anyone interested in presenting at a brown bag session, including doctoral students from other departments, is encouraged to attend the first session Sept. 22.
