Jason Downer, professor of education and director of the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning at the University of Virginia, will lead a Dec. 10 research presentation on the crucial role teachers play in the development of children’s social-emotional learning skills.
During his presentation, “School-based Prevention of Behavior Problems and Promotion of Social-Emotional Learning Skills through Video-based Teacher Consultation,” Downer will discuss how teachers can facilitate the skills that contribute to early school success through high-quality classroom interaction.
His presentation will highlight findings from several studies that leverage teachers as agents of change through web-mediated, video-based consultation.
Downer’s presentation is from 1:30–3 p.m. in the Nebraska Union Georgian Suite. It is open to the public.
