Ted Hamann has won the David G. Imig Distinguished Service Award from The Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED). Ted is a faculty member in the Department of Teaching, Learning, & Teacher Education (TLTE) at University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL) and has been part of UNL CPED efforts since the beginning in 2007. Ted has helped realize the CPED vision and mission demonstrating leadership within CPED at UNL and at the international consortium through teaching and advising extensively within the TLTE EdD program, publishing three articles related to CPED, and championing the publication of the book Placing Practitioner Knowledge at the Center of Teacher Education: Rethinking the Policy and Practice of the Education Doctorate as the series editor. Ted has also led a number of UNL CPEDers to South Africa where short-term placements in a broad cross-section of schools have provoked thoughtful, comparative engagement with problems of practice. In addition, his former student, Dr. Janet Eckerson, earned an Honorable Mention in CPED’s Dissertation in Practice of the Year competition in 2016.
The David G. Imig Distinguished Service award is presented in recognition of an individual who has demonstrated important contributions to the Vision and Mission of CPED and/or the reclaiming of the EdD as the highest quality professional practice doctorate in education.
The award will be presented at the #CPED19 June Convening hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, June 10-12.
