Coats for Clinton drive runs through Dec. 8.
Coats for Clinton drive runs through Dec. 8.

The School of Natural Resources' annual Coats for Clinton drive continues into its ninth year, providing coats and winter gear to the students of Clinton Elementary at 1520 N. 29th St. – just a few blocks from SNR's home building, Hardin Hall.

The school has 543 enrolled students, 92 percent who are in the free- or reduced-price lunch program and 41 percent who take a backpack of food home each Friday so their families can eat through the weekend.

All winter gear — coats, hats, gloves, scarves, shoes, boots and even sweatpants — are being sought in sizes 5 to 16. Gently used items also will be accepted. Donations can be placed in the designated box located in the first floor lobby of Hardin Hall until Dec. 8.

Monetary donations also can be made at the Nebraska Maps & More Store in Hardin Hall. Please make checks out to "Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools" with "Clinton Emergency Fund" on the ledger line. Gift cards also will be accepted to stores such as Famous Footwear or Target.

The annual collection drive is organized by the School of Natural Resources outreach committee.
