The DNA Journey essay is due October 19th!

The Husker DNA Journey, led by Lory Dance at the Institute for Ethnic Studies, was made to bring a diverse group of Husker undergrads together to take a DNA ancestry test and share their stories. The project aims at breaking down barriers by understanding and discussing each other's commonalities while also recognizing the unique backgrounds the students come from. Students interested will submit an essay detailing the knowledge of their ancestors going back 100 to 300 years. The deadline for essay submission is October 19th.

The Husker DNA Journey takes its inspiration and objectives from a documentary called the DNA journey. In that same vein, the project will document students as they learn about each other's histories in a short film. In addition to the film, students will present their findings in two reflective presentations and write an essay describing their experience.
