Want to learn more about Lincoln and the people living here? This semester, the Center for Civic Engagement is creating a Financial Literacy Team, formed around the mission of educating members of the Lincoln community about personal finance. This program will be a two-pronged approach:
1.Financial Literacy Seminars –The Financial Literacy Team will create and present educational seminars for the Lincoln community. The seminar topics range from establishing credit to banking basics to preparing taxes.
2.Tax Preparation –The Team will also be partnering with CommunityHope Federal Credit Union to establish a tax preparation site every Friday from 8-10 AM.
The Center for Civic Engagement is currently looking for 2-3 individuals to be part of the Financial Literacy Team. If you register and are accepted, we will help you through the IRS tax certification process. Knowledge of personal finance and taxes is not required because we will be going through the information together.
We are especially looking for 1-2 people who are fluent in Spanish.
